A guided tour of St Collen’s Church that formed part of the “A Tour Through Time” programme organised by Our Historic Llangollen and was very well received by attendees. Feedback highlighted strong interest in both the history of the church and the future ambitions of the Genesis Project.
Visitors particularly enjoyed learning about the nationally significant medieval hammer-beam roof and hearing how recent digital ceiling scans are helping to better understand its condition and support future conservation work. The opportunity to view the scans generated considerable discussion and helped explain the importance of the ongoing fundraising campaign for the ceiling’s conservation.
Attendees responded positively to the vision of the Genesis Project, especially proposals to improve access, interpretation, and community use of the church while carefully conserving its historic fabric. Many commented on the value of combining heritage storytelling with explanations of how the building can continue to serve the wider community in the future.
The event successfully increased awareness of the church’s heritage significance, strengthened community engagement, and generated further interest in supporting the long-term conservation and sustainability of St Collen’s Church.
