Over the centuries, our church has continually evolved to meet the needs of the community it serves. In fact, the building was last reordered in the 1860s, showing that thoughtful, sensitive change has always been part of its story.
Now, as we move further into the 21st century, St. Collen’s once again has an opportunity to adapt through The Genesis Project.
This exciting plan will help us create a space that is more flexible, more accessible, and more inclusive; a church that feels warm and open, not only for religious services, but for the wider community too.
We understand that change can bring questions or concerns, but please be assured: we are not compromising the church’s historic character.
In fact, we will be carefully restoring and maintaining its stunning architectural features, ensuring this treasured building is preserved with care and respect.
Our goal is to create a space that honours the past while looking to the future.
The plans are available in church to view until the end of January, and we warmly encourage anyone who is interested to come along, take a look, and ask questions.
Work on The Genesis Project is expected to begin in March 2026 and may last around a year, during which time the church will be temporarily closed.
We’ll share regular updates about our relocation and progress – click here for the latest information…
Let’s ensure St. Collen’s remains a vibrant, welcoming space for generations to come.
